We Don’t Need Anyone But Us
I’m sure you’ve guys heard about the floods happening in Beledweyne. I don’t need to add to the hundreds of pictures online showing the damages or people waist-deep in water. I do want to share an image that really moved me, taken in Garowe: I admire this man so much. And anyone in Garowe, or other parts of Somalia that are investing their time, money, and resources to help their own. May Allah reward them. Being educated in the west came with a lot of conceptions I am working actively to unlearn. One of them being that there needs to be some sort of western entity, whether a non-profit organization or…

My Book: Tawwakul for Children & why I wrote it
Super long overdue but I kind of wanted to talk about this book more in detail and share my little story on how it came to be. Sorry for the audio & video issues at the end, I was too close to the camera so the audio messes up as I moved around, and I kept bumping into it.

What This Bag Taught Me
You guys I really really love this bag. I bought it a couple of years ago, and when I say I got roasted for it… lawd, I really did. Deep down I enjoyed the attention, but besides that, I think the reason this bag made me so happy (besides the fact that it’s cute) was because it was one of the first things I added to my closet that reminded me of me. And I don’t mean ‘me’ as in who I was- but the version of me I had in my head. I hope you understand what I mean. I think all of us, at one point, had this…

Is it too early to review 2019? I hate her
solitude is a cure, nature is what makes the process sweet I ain’t gon lie to you, my friend, 2019 was by far the worst year of my life. I’ve experienced dark times over the last couple of years but I’ve had things happen in 2019 that never in a million years I thought would happen, subhanallah. But I’m still up in this hoe haaaaaaaa so I guess there’s work to be done. To survive this world you need to have a care package for dark times. I learned I need to know how to take care of myself when a storm hits, for its arrival is inevitable. And it’s wrong to…

A Book Review
If you guys are interested in politics or state building I really really really recommend this book (btw peep my bookmark.. I’m so #cute) I know most books that about this topic are heavy to read but this one isn’t like that I promise. It’s both enjoyable to read and you’ll learn a lot. It’s a biography of Singapore’s first president & his thought process as he led his country after decolonization. Some of my fav quotes: 1. On Multinational Coroporations: (basically any of these huge companies you see everywhere, that have factories in poor countries) “…economics argues that MNCs continued the colonial pattern of exploration that left developing countries…

The XMR case
Just came back from Xamar recently, My little niece hid a shilling in my bag lol, so I thought to customize my case to keep it with me to remind myself the lessons I learned on this trip. Pretty simple, just laminated the money with clear tape (ghetto) and used gorilla glue to attach. (Loooool dawg I picked the toughest glue I could find at Home Depot I have no idea why??? It was stuck on my hands for weeks) My trip showed me a beautiful sight- the war is ending, my people are rebuilding, the rest of Africa is blooming. What a time to be alive. I’m excited for…
